Goldikova's quest for a Mile three-peat was largely overshadowed at this year's Breeders' Cup by Zenyatta's bid for her third Breeders' Cup win and a chance to cap an unbeaten career with her 20th victory without a defeat in the Breeders' Cup Classic (G1). But Goldikova dazzled on center stage in the Mile with a powerfully rally to victory that cemented her legacy as one of racing's all-time greats. "She's the best [racemare] in the world," Goldikova's jockey, Olivier Peslier said after the race. "Now, it's Zenyatta's turn." Some of the build-up leading up to the Breeders' Cup World Championships dealt with Goldikova's trainer, Freddie Head, saying in October that his mare was more accomplished than Zenyatta, who came up a heart-breaking head short to Blame in the Classic. Goldikova, however, took care of business in the $1818000 TVG Breeders' Cup Mile and she received thunderous applause from the crowd at Churchill Downs.
