PA HarnessWeek Episode #95 (Nov. 6, 2010) PT3 [09:13]
Lots going on this week, starting off with wins from David Miller with Riggins, Eric Goodell with And Heez Perfect, 46-1 bomber Winning Mister with David Ingraham and George Napolitano Jr. with Drop Red. Speaking of Georgie Nap, he set one heck of a record recently, hitting the 300 win mark at both Harrah's Chester and Pocono Downs...on the same day! Steve talks with the man who's been called 'a freak on the 5/8the mile' (in a good way!) and he opens up about his driving style, competitive nature, and when he's finally going to get his own bobblehead. Plus, Jennifer goes into the booth with one of the best young track announcers in the country, Harrah's Chester's James Witherite. Plus, we head north to Woodbine for the Governor's Cup eliminations.

Afleet Express - 2010 Travers Stakes (G1) [02:32]
Galloping out after the oh-so-close finish of the Grade 1, $1 million Travers at Saratoga Race Course, jockeys Javier Castellano, aboard Afleet Express, and Jose Lezcano, riding Fly Down, looked questioningly at each other. "What do you think?" asked Lezcano. "Either way," replied Castellano. It took a photo to decide, and at the very end of the 1 ¼ miles it showed the Jimmy Jerkens-trained Afleet Express had gotten a sliver of a nostril in front of Nick Zito's late-running colt in one of the closest finishes in the 141 runnings of the Mid-Summer Derby. Cleverly ridden by Castellano, who tucked the son of Afleet Alex into the middle of the pack as Miner's Reserve led through fractions of 23.42, 47.25 and 1:11.39, Afleet Express began picking off rivals with a half-mile to go in the 1 ¼-mile race. Moving up along the inside on the far turn, Afleet Express swung out at the top of the lane into the lead even as Fly Down came barreling widest -- and fastest -- of all to hook up as they headed to the eighth pole. Battling saddlecloth-to-saddlecloth through the final 200 yards, with the crowd of 45764 on its feet, Afleet Express somehow managed to prevail by less than an inch, hitting the wire in 2:03.28. It was the ninth time the Travers had been decided by a nose, and the closest finish since Colonel John nipped Mambo in Seattle in 2008.

Dynaslew - 2010 Ballston Spa (G2) [02:01]
Dynaslew collared front-running Silver Reunion with a furlong to go and went on to post a half-length victory Saturday afternoon in the 22nd running of the Grade 2, $200000 Ballston Spa Handicap at Saratoga Race Course. Patiently ridden by Eibar Coa, the 4-year-old Dynaformer filly sat just two lengths behind Silver Reunion, who led the field of 10 fillies and mares through opening fractions of 23.44, 47.54 and 1:11.15 over the firm Inner Turf course. Silver Reunion straightened for home with a clear lead, but Dynaslew was just hitting her best stride and after battling briefly with the pacesetter, began edging to the front and hit the wire in 1:40.58 for the 1 1/16th miles. "In the stretch, she just kept digging and digging and digging," said Coa of Dynaslew, whose previous graded stakes victory came in the Grade 3 Beaugay at Belmont Park in May. "She never stopped running." The victory was the third in five starts this year for Dynaslew, who in her previous start finished fourth, beaten just a neck, by Proviso in the Grade 1 Diana at the Spa on July 31. Trained by Seth Benzel for Live Oak Plantation, she earned $240000 for the victory, nearly doubling her bankroll to $486850. Overall, Dynaslew is 5-4-0 from 13 starts.
