The 21st Running of the Jim Murray Handicap (Grade II) $150000 Guaranteed [02:52]
A return to the Hollywood Park turf course was all Acclamation needed to get back to the winner's circle. The 5-year-old California bred became the second repeat winner of the $150000 Jim Murray Memorial Handicap Saturday, easily disposing of four rivals. Ending a four race losing streak, Acclamation joined On the Acorn, who won the Grade II in 2007 and 2008 for Indizguys Stable and trainer Mike Mitchell. Ridden for the first time by Joel Rosario, Acclamation, a son of Unusual Heat and the Silveyville mare Winning in Style, was content to track runaway leader All Saint for most of the trip, took over the lead with little effort approaching the stretch, then widened in the final two furlongs. A record setting winner of the Murray a year ago when prevailing by 7 ½ lengths, Acclamation nearly matched the margin Saturday. The 7-5 favorite finished seven lengths ahead of Falcon Rock while running the 1 ½ miles in 2:25.63. The final time was nearly a second faster than his first win in the race. Acclamation's 2010 clocking was 2:26.59. Owned by Peter and Mary Hilvers and breeders Bud and Judy Johnston and trained by Don Warren, Acclamation won for the fifth time in 24 starts. Now 4-for-6 on the Hollywood Park grass, the bay has earned $608048. The 14-1 eighth choice in a field of 10 in last year's Murray, Acclamation returned $4.80, $2.80 and $2.40 Saturday. Falcon Rock, who finished a half-length in front of 5-2 second choice Haimish Hy, paid $3.80 and $2.40. The 6-year-old ...

Six Month Layoff No Issue For War Pilot [01:30]
War Pilot was primed after a layoff, scooting clear in the closing yards to win the $58328 allowance feature Friday night at Hollywood Park. Trained by Mike Pender for owner BJ Wright, the 3-year-old War Front ridgling out of the With Approval mare To Be Approved ran past favored Vaundell in his first start since defeating maidens in a turf route here last Nov. 6. The 5-1 third choice in the field of six, War Pilot, who was ridden by Martin Pedroza, paid $12.20, $3.80 and $3. He ran the six furlongs on grass in 1:08.96 while prevailing by 1 ½ lengths. Vaundell, who got the lead briefly after tracking longshot pacesetter Caught a Flyer, returned $2.20 and $2.10 as the 3-5 choice. Caught a Flyer, who finished 1 ¼ lengths behind Vaundell, paid $3.60 to show. Sammartino, the 4-1 second choice, was fourth, then came Shediak and Markyg. A $60000 purchase at Barretts in March, 2010, War Pilot won for the second time in five starts. He's earned $65570. Although he was unplaced with Shediak, jockey Tyler Baze did win three times Friday evening. Baze took the opener with first time starter Miss Ambition, the fourth on Hunter Creek and the eighth aboard Los Bomberos.

Gomez Guides Uh Oh Bango To Thursday Victory [02:07]
Recently returned to California, jockey Garrett Gomez directed 3-1 second choice Uh Oh Bango to a half-length decision over longshot Bogie in the $55730 feature Thursday at Hollywood Park. The victory was the first at a Spring/Summer meet for Gomez since he won with Gothic Samurai July 18, 2009. Owned by breeder Triple AAA Ranch and trained by R. Kory Owens, Uh Oh Bango ended a seven race losing streak Thursday. Before his third lifetime victory, the Arizona bred hadn't won since taking the Prairie Meadows Freshman Stakes Sept, 18, 2009 in Iowa. Closest to pacesetter and 9-10 favorite Burj Dubai for most of the journey, Uh Oh Bango got the lead early in the stretch and was able to hold off Bogie, a 10-1 outsider who was making his first start on a surface other than turf. Completing the 1 1/16 miles over Cushion Track in 1:43.88, Uh Oh Bango paid $8, $3.80 and $2.80. He increased his earnings in 11 starts to $351612.
