Blackie at Mentone Dressage Jackpot held at WPNEC. I was running really late and only got on about 7 mins before my first test so he wasn't warmed up properly. He was forward before I got in the arena and died as soon as we hit the centre line. He thought it was great fun going through all the puddles around the centre though!

Demonstrating proper Equitation walk-trot [01:34]
Equitation is vital, especially in a show. It's just the "book" way of how you should look on a horse from the basics to the olympic levels. Walk- trot is simple. I listed some of the things that should be on your equitation checklist in the video. You'll also see a comment I included about making the horse work off her back end. As a horse is supposed to be balanced, the "power" should come from the back end. Keep contact in the front, but make sure your horse's hind end is always engaged. Another pointer... a sitting trot should be visibly slower than a rising or posting trot. while in the sitting trot, try not to bounce all over the saddle. Some horses are very bouncey. A way to strengthen yourself up to be able to handle this with good eq would be to try no stirrups. This strengthens your leg and teaches you not to rely on stirrups to balance you. Also lets you really get the feel of the horse's motion/

I am really late uploading this, like a month late. It took forever to get the clips together and I couldn't find the version of this song that I wanted so I used this instead, I literally spent forever trying to find it and then gave up. I'm not overly pleased with how this video turned out, not my best work at all. Oh well, it shows various clips throughout the past year and a bit. There's like no clips from September 2011 - April 2012 as we were going through a really rough time and I had my accident before Christmas so before/after that things were not great tbh. So the first bareback clip in the purple hoodie is around the time I started gaining confidence back, and the first jumping clips of us together/first canter were mid April 2012 when I truly started riding again, and those were our first jumps and canter together. I had not cantered or jumped in over a year due to various reasons. I hugged her after because I was SO beyond proud of her and how far we both have come. After that we've started truly making progress. It has been a long and bumpy road to get to where we are now, and the road from here won't be easy either, but it is so worth it every single day. I don't know what I would be doing without this mare. I don't think I would have any serious goals for myself or my future if ...
