The Key to Training Success - Patience, Consistency, Kindness [01:41]
Spring 2012 (First year off the track) 5yo off the track Quarter Horse to be used for barrel racing and dressage. Had an issue of head tossing at the start of his training. This issue was fixed with NO equipment changes, NO rough training methods or harsh bits/equipment (was being ridden in a Myler snaffle), NO trank or other types of supplements used to "calm" a horse (ie - equine chill) and NO professional riding/training (only riding done by myself without professional instruction). FYI - this issue was fixed within about a month, maybe less. The tools used to fix this issue were: PATIENCE - getting frustrated causes tension in the rider which transfers to the horse making it impossible for him to relax into the contact and become supple and engaged. Also, losing patience and yanking the rein when soft, consistent contact doesn't seem to be creating results is counterproductive and could irritate the horse or (on a more sensitive horse) upset the horse to the point where they do not trust you enough to work for you. CONSISTENCY - In order for an issue like this to be resolved on a young horse, the rider must always be giving the same message as to not confuse the horse. Every time the head is tossed, contact is held and leg pressure is increased to push the horse into the contact. When he softens and brings his head down he is rewarded - a "good boy" and a pat on the neck with a slight decrease in rein contact tells him he did something right. If this is done the same ...

Betfair Tennis trading strategy - Early round matches [06:02]
In the early rounds of Tennis tournaments there are lots of matches all starting at once and it's impossible to focus in on each to trade them, or is it? In this video we look at a tactic that allows you to make a judgement on a match and put in a trade to match while the match is under-way. Whether you are watching it or not!

Say hello to Little John Paddocks latest edition; Lottie! [01:30]
Hehe, yep this is the big surprise. Say hello to Lottie everyone! She arrived on Staurday 21st April and is the second foal to be born at Little John Paddocks. Lottie's dam, Freckles (the grey mare) was bought to be a new riding horse at LJP. And, it wasn't until a couple weeks after that she was discovered to have been pregnant! Already she'd been used in lessons and taken out on hacks! Although, this hasn't effected Lottie in the slightest. Freckles is a very proud mummy and Lottie is a very lucky filly! :D After having discovered Freckles to be pregnant, Sue (the stable owner) rang up the previous owners to complain. They previous owners of Freckles claimed to have not known about the mare's pregnancy at all. But, come on, how could you not know?! You wouldn't put a mare in the same field near a stallion would you? Unless you wanted a foal of course. We currently do not know what Lottie's sire looked like so it was a mystery on what colour she'd be when she came out. This event can relate to a previous happening back in 2010 with the piebald mare, Bailey. Bailey was discovered to have been pregnant a couple weeks at being at LJP. I just want to get some things straight: at Little John Paddocks there are only mares and geldings. NO STALLIONS! So its impossible for one of our horses to breed, OK? Good. Anyway, Bailey gave birth to a piebald colt named Beaumont (Beau for short) mid 2011 and was sold to a loving home where he'll be looked after for his whole life. The ...

Elusive Pearl - 2011 Pebbles S. [01:59]
Able to dictate a slow tempo, Elusive Pearl proved impossible to catch on Monday at Belmont Park in the $100000 Pebbles for 3-year-old fillies. After grabbing the lead as the field exited the one-mile chute on the Widener turf course, Elusive Pearl received token pressure from Divalarious through soft fractions of 24.88 and 50.44. The favorite was kept under a hold entering the stretch and was hand-ridden as she opened on her rivals, with runner-up Hessonite closing down the center of the track to finish 2 ¼ lengths behind the winner. The final time for one-mile over firm turf was 1:36.61. Elusive Pearl, returned $6.10 for a $2 win wager.
