Virgin Islands Horse Racing - Carnival Friday from St. Thomas, April 27, 2012 [29:03]
The 2012 Carnival Friday Racing is in full effect highlighted by 5 classic races. First up is the Miriam Georges, where Aircraft Intercept, winner of 3 straight takes on the newly transplanted Formal King and 2 hunters from the big island (St. Croix), Brave Reward and Bruno's Burst in a 6 furlong test. Next up is the annual "Ricky" Ashby for all the top sprinters in the VI. Reigning champ Really Uptown (BVI) takes on hard charging fellow countryman Broken Home (BVI) and 2 newcomers. Then the top Girls in the VI go at it in the Administrators Cup where Moments Away will try to hold off Rasta Queen (STX) , the new girl on the block Goodeveningofficer and bitter rival Glorious Memory (BVI) from taking the crown. Another rivalry continues in the Albert Benjamin Classic when this time Puertorican Emblem invades to take on Rick City's Sweet Sight but Voice of Faith and big islander Expect Smoke (STX) may have something to say about the outcome. Last but not least is the "Big One", the one we all want to see, the 2012 Governor's Cup. St Thomas' Bud White seeks to avenge his loss to East End Tap (BVI) in the third leg of the VI Triple Crown back in March, but it's not that easy with heavy hitters like Diablo's Fire (STT), Berberis (STX) and defending champ Good Prospecting (BVI) in the mix. Listen to the 10k + crown roar when the winner crosses the finnish line!!!!

2011 Hollywood Derby - Ultimate Eagle [02:41]
Owner BJ Wright and trainer Michael Pender capped their superb Turf Festival at Hollywood Park when Ultimate Eagle went gate to wire to win the $250000 Hollywood Derby (gr. IT) at odds of 14-1 Nov. 27 (VIDEO) . Wright and Pender won the $250000 Citation Handicap (gr. IIT) a day earlier with favored Jeranimo. Ultimate Eagle, now four-for-four since Pender switched the 3-year-old son of Mizzen Mast to turf this summer, won by three-quarters of a length and completed the 1 1/4-mile event for 3-year-olds in 2:01.43 on firm turf. Ultimate Eagle was ignored in the betting in spite of his half-length victory in the 1 1/8-mile Oak Tree Derby (gr. IIT) Oct. 15 at Santa Anita Park. "We were very confident," Wright told TVG afterward. "We think we have the best 3-year-old in the country." Martin Pedroza rode Ultimate Eagle to victory over a tough field that included a number of shippers. Phipps Stable's Imagining, shipped in from New York by trainer Shug McGaughey, tracked Ultimate Eagle all the way around the track and held on for second. British invaders Western Aristocrat and Slumber finished third and fourth, respectively. "It's miraculous considering where this horse came from," Pender said following his first grade I triumph. "(Ultimate Eagle) had colic (in June 2010) and was basically pronounced dead on the table. Somehow, by an act of God, he was brought back to life."
