Great runnings of the Travers Stakes up to and including 1989, narrated by NYRA's John Imbriale.. The Travers Stakes is an American Grade I Thoroughbred horse race held at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York. First held in 1864, it was named for William R. Travers, the president of the old Saratoga Racing Association. His horse, Kentucky, won the first running of the Travers. Civics Java Classic [09:08]
The Civics - Java Classic horse shown here is a three year old thoroughbred gelding. He has been gifted to me and this video was made to show his breeder where he now lives. Hopefully he will follow in the footsteps of Captain Court and develop into a high class racehorse. Captain Court is the bold chestnut horse with the white half blaze on his nose. The other two horses are a Masterclass gelding who never won a race and a chestnut mare by Moon Spirit (in the bright blue cover) who is not moving freely due to a recent bad bout of laminitis. The property is in Avondale, Auckland City, New Zealand. It is 10km from the city centre. The person you see and hear on the video is my next door neighbour Rick who helps me look after my horses.
