Sidney's Candy won his third consecutive stakes in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby, pulling away in the stretch to win by 4 1/2 lengths over 12-1 Setsuko. Lookin At Lucky, the 4-5 favorite, could only finish third after encountering trouble on the turn, and was six lengths behind Sidney's Candy. The Santa Anita stewards conducted an inquiry into Lookin At Lucky's trip on the turn but did not change the order of finish after a five-minute review.
