Alverton is the only horse to have won both The Arkle Chase and Cheltenham Gold Cup. Alverton was nine when jockey Jonjo O'Neill rode the horse to victory at the 1979 Cheltenham Gold Cup. The trainer of the horse was Peter Easterby and the owner was Snailwell Stud Co.

A very quick (and boring) tribute to the 2010 Grand National winner, Don't Push It, who was retired yesterday. As you all know, AP McCoy is my favourite jockey of all time, and the day when Don't Push It gave him his first emotional Grand National victory to this day remains my favourite moment in racing. So have a happy retirement old boy, you deserve it! (I used this song because I love it, and One Republic ;) I also think it fits the horse and jockey well, seeing how AP was waiting for a horse to give him a Grand National victory and Don't Push It was waiting for someone to realise his full potential...
