Valenzo FL Horsepark Jan 15 2011 [06:07]
WMM messed up the music transitions!! Me and Valenzo riding third level test 2 at the FL horsepark January 15 2011. This was our first show,after riding him for only 2 months. His trot is Amazing! it is just his "normal"( if you can call it normal) trot, it is no where near his "second" trot! What would you say this ride is worthy of? somewhere around the 70's? I think so. Well, the judge, Marian Cunningham (s) gave our ride a 59%! This just goes to show that judges out here in redneck land don't know a thing about dressage. all they see is horses moving like stick horses all day long. And when they see a nice horse they just want to mock that pair because it is of more quality than the "rest of the horses" If i were to have ridden this test in Wellington (west palm beach, FL) or in the Netherlands, it would have been scored correctly. The first test i did (third level test 1) was scored appropriately with a 63%. Valenzo wasn't really "with me" and not paying attention in that ride, But this one! we were the best at the show! Not one horse came close to Valenzo (quality wise) But you know what? I don't care that the judge gave aa ridiculously low score (just goes to show what a fool she is) I know I rode great and that's all that matters! (after a while, once i ride more shows, judges will not be able to give me low scores anymore) My favorite moment of the ride was at 5:13 to 5:16, I looked to my left, the stands were full and it was very quiet. Equine Idol ~ Season 3 ~ AUDITION [00:15]
I'm not sure if the judges read descriptions or not, but I will fill it out just in case. Why should I be idolized? I may not have the fanciest, most expensive horses out there, but I put all I have into them to make them all they can be. I work even harder to be all *I* can be! I have a passion that every good horseperson needs to succeed, and I work hard to get where I dream to go. This is the one sport that I live for...honestly, I can get depressed if I go too long without horses! We bought my most recent horse (the dark bay in the video) out of a kill pen for $450, and although she is one of the most difficult horses I have ever ridden, I push through it and give her everything I've got. She's improving everyday, and she's going to go far. That little pony that is in most of the video is my everything, and we've worked so hard together. We aim to prove that both Appies and "shorties" can be amazing show horses, and our dream is beginning to come true. I'm not perfect...never have been, never will be...I make mistakes, I have lots to work on in my eq...I get nervous, and I get frustrated. But I have this little thing called determination (some call it being stubborn!), and no matter how bad things get, my horses give me what I need to push through it. I love my horses to death, and would do just about anything for them. They're my life. Horses are my passion, and although I've always been the "underdog", I give it all I've got and hope to be an inspiration to those ...

Horse racing oddity: jockey misjudges distance [03:21]
For some reason I find oddities like this May 16, 2004 race very entertaining. The Hasta la Vista Handicap at Turf Paradise in Arizona is run at what today is an unusually long distance of 1 7/8 miles. This requires two full circuits of the course, rather than the usual one time around in most races. Unfortunately for jockey Jorge Carreno, he forgets that minor detail, creating a very unusual sitation. On a personal note, in the early 1980s, I recall Hall of Fame jockey Jorge Velasquez ...
