Emma's Encore - 2012 Victory Ride (G3) [01:33]
Hall of Fame trainer H. Allen Jerkens bolstered his reputation as the "Giant Killer" at Belmont Park Saturday afternoon, sending out 39-1 Emma's Encore to upset previously undefeated Agave Kiss in the Grade 3, $150000 Victory Ride. After breaking alertly, Emma's Encore settled into fifth as favored Agave Kiss dueled with Jamaican Smoke through a blistering opening quarter-mile in 21.46. Jamaican Smoke headed the favorite to run a half-mile in 44 flat as Emma's Encore began to gain momentum. Third at the top of the stretch, Emma's Encore kicked clear through the final sixteenth of a mile to win by 2 ¾ lengths. Mystical Star - 2012 New York S. (G2) [02:24]
Mystical Star atoned for her previous misbehavior in the starting gate by breaking in a timely manner and turning back Aruna's stretch run to win Belmont Park's Grade 2, $200000 New York for turf fillies and mares on Saturday. In her previous race, Belmont's Grade 2 Sheepshead Bay on May 26, Mystical Star found herself 19 lengths behind at the first call after beating the gate, rearing up, and veering inward. She closed resolutely to be third under the finish line before being disqualified and placed last of eight for her premature start. This time, Mystical Star was away in second as she tracked long shot pacesetter The Underling for a half-mile before assuming command along the backstretch while receiving pressure from Hit It Rich. Set down as the field turned for home, Mystical Star kicked away from Hit It Rich, then gave Sheepshead Bay winner Aruna the cold shoulder to register a one-length victory. Mystical Star, a 4-year-old who went off as the 9-2 fourth choice, paid $11.80 for a $2 win wager and completed 1 ¼ miles over the firm inner turf course in 2:00.17.

2012-03-31 Turffontein - race 8 [02:04]
Slumdogmillionaire wins the GRADE-1 SA Classic.. The main event of the 12 race program, the SA Classic Grade-1 for 3 year olds over 1800m, saw Team G represented with Slumdogmillionaire and Brooks Club, both drawn out wide at 11 and 12. There were no slip ups at the jump this time for Slumdog and he bounced straight out to take lead and set his own pace throughout. Brooks Club didn't fare as well and he ended up widest of all, mid-field with nowhere to go. Turning for home Slumdogmillionaire once again took a bit of time to get going and halfway down the straight he was under pressure as race favourite Gimmethegreenlight slipped past him. The changeover was short-lived however as Slumdogmillionaire kicked into finishing gear to retake the lead and stay there. Pomodoro flew up at the death and did everything but tag Slumdogmillionaire on the line in a decision that had to go to the judges.. ..and SLUMDOGMILLIONAIRE! by a nose, jubilation for the connections and followers and another Grade-1 under the belt for Team G Racing. Slumdogmillionaire earned his owners Messers J. Sarkis and A. Greyvensteyn a cool R1.25million for the win, recouping his purchase price and surging into profit with a massive future still to come. Brooks Club who raced widest throughout, was unable to produce his trademark acceleration down the straight and finished 3 lengths back in 5th position. His turn will come.
