Dramatic Gold won a narrow stretch duel tonight to capture the $750000 Buick Meadowlands Cup, the richest thoroughbred race ever held in New Jersey. Ridden by Kent Desormeaux, Dramatic Gold held off Formal Gold by three-quarters of a length. The 5-year-old covered the mile and an eighth in 1 minute 48 seconds and paid $12.20 for a $2 bet in winning his third race in eight starts this year. Geri, the even-money favorite, finished next to last in the field of 11, his first finish out of the money this year. Mt. Sassafras was third. Gulf Reckoning, who was a perfect 4 for 4 on the Meadowlands main track, led the field through the first three-quarters of a mile. He tired to run fourth and was followed by Eltish, Run Softly, Devil's Honor, November Sunset, Victory Speech, Geri and Stephanotis.

Po pokonaniu ostatniego płotu Bonsai's Blade mocno zbliżył się do Jutrzenki i lekko galopując pod Rumenem Panczewem pokonał ją w końcówce. Oba te konie trenowane są przez Janusza Kozłowskiego. Brytyjskiej hodowli Bonsai's Blade jest własnością Piotra Myszkowskiego.
