Pulpit, formerly undefeated and the 2-5 choice, ran well under Shane Sellers to finish second, but he was no match for Captain Bodgit, who authored a bold move around the far turn with Alex Solis, coming from sixth place to prevail by 2 1/2 lengths at 7-2. The time for the mile and an eighth was an ordinary 1:50 3/5, following fractions of :23 1/5, :47 3/5, 1:12 and 1:37 2/5, over a track officially labeled as "fast."
