Betfair trading - ramblings of a scalper [08:21]
I normally trade football at HT but it's so damned slow and there's a good chance I'd make a recording to find out there are no opps to scalp so thought I'd record a horsey market pre-race and provide some commentary on what is going through a trader's mind when looking at the market. Unplanned so a lot of rambling. If it helps the newbie trader then that's all I can ask for! If you make a career out of it, send me a nice bottle of 15 year old single malt. I could just trade and record that but you won't know why I did something or didn't do something. In fact, it's the non-activity that will save you from emptying your bank! Excuse the bongs and bings - it's a signal that some football match was about to kick off. Fun of Geek's Toy! Oh, and the term is "BSD". ;) DISCLAIMER: gambling and trading are high risk activities. There are no guarantees that you will make money. You may lose more than you initially risk and accept responsibility for your own losses.

France looking for quick Six Nations comeback against Wales [01:52]
France lock Thierry Dusautoir says the Six Nations tournament starts this weekend after a loss to Wales meaning Les Bleus probably have to win the next four matches to have a chance of becoming champions. France Coach Patrice Lagisquet says his team needs to maintain their intensity for 80 minutes if they are to beat Wales

1994 Jockey Club Gold Cup [12:16]
Holy Bull, resting in his stall in Kentucky, probably scored the greatest victory of his career yesterday when Colonial Affair won the $750000 Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont Park and knocked Tabasco Cat out of contention for Horse of the Year. On a day billed as New York's preview of the Breeders' Cup series, Colonial Affair made a power drive from sixth place and outran Devil His Due to the wire by two and a half lengths, giving senior horses a sweep of the top spots. Less than one length back came the European traveler Flag Down, and then it was half a length to Tabasco Cat, winner of the Preakness and Belmont Stakes. And far, far away in last place came Go for Gin, winner of the Kentucky Derby and another beaten candidate for post-season honors. The loss meant that Tabasco Cat had no chance to snatch the championship from Holy Bull, who went home for the year after winning 8 of his 10 races in dramatic fashion. And it meant that whoever wins the Breeders' Cup Classic at Churchill Downs on Nov. 5 also has no chance to catch Holy Bull for the sport's top prize. "Holy Bull is a charismatic horse," said Wayne Lukas, the trainer of Tabasco Cat. "I would like to see him make some more of the classics. But if he's Horse of the Year, I'll stand up at the awards dinner and applaud. "I felt we were in a position where we needed to win today to sway the vote." But Lukas, whose personal and professional fortunes have been rallied this year by Tabasco Cat, still surfaced as a ...

Indianapolis 500 pays tribute to Dan Wheldon (5-27-2012) [01:14]
The start of Sunday's 96th Indianapolis 500 was preceded by an emotional tribute to last year's winner Dan Wheldon, who was killed in a horrific crash later in the season. The crowd, estimated at almost a quarter of million, paused in silence to remember the popular British driver, whose death in the season-ending race at Las Vegas continues to cast a pall over the sport. The car he drive to victory in last year's race was taken on a lap of the sprawling 2.5 mile track by team owner Bryan Herta. "There are a lot of people feeling Dan's loss," Herta told reporters earlier in the week. "It's still a difficult situation and it still feels fresh, but it's really nice to see the continued outpouring of support for Dan and his family and everything he has done for IndyCar." Wheldon's smiling face was featured on the official race day tickets and spectators were given white cardboard sunglasses, in memory of the loony white-framed glasses the Englishman often wore, to wear on laps 26 and 98 - representing the numbers of his winning cars at the race in 2005 and 2011. Wheldon's wife Susie and their two sons attended the race week. On Thursday, the drivers presented Susie with her husband's championship ring from last year. On Saturday, race officials gave her a replica of the winner's trophy. Wheldon won his first Indianapolis 500 in 2005 but it was his victory last year for which he will be best remembered. Despite finishing runner-up in America's greatest race in 2009 and 2010 ...

Press Conference following the Scratch of I'll Have Another from Saturday's Belmont Stakes [12:48]
Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner I'll Have Another was withdrawn from Saturday's 144th running of the Grade 1, $1 million Belmont Stakes and retired, a little more than 24 hours before his attempt to become the first horse in 34 years to win the Triple Crown. In a ceremonial tribute, jockey Mario Gutierrez will be aboard I'll Have Another as he leads the post parade for the Belmont Stakes (post time 6:40 pm, NBC 4:30-7 pm). Trainer Doug O'Neill said I'll Have Another had developed a swelling in his left front tendon that was the beginning of tendonitis. "This is extremely tough for all of us. It's far from tragic but it's extremely disappointing," said O'Neill, who described the injury as a "freakish thing" during a 1 pm news conference at Belmont Park. "He has been a little quiet the last few days of galloping but his legs have been great. Yesterday he galloped great, but in the afternoon we noticed some loss of definition in his left front leg ... we prayed he kind of hit himself and that it was a little bit of skin irritation. We did him up in a special poultice, and this morning he looked great. We did just a little easy gallop with him this morning. I thought he looked great on the track. "Cooling out, you could tell the swelling was back," he said. "I talked with Mr. [J. Paul] Reddam and immediately we got Dr. [Jim] Hunt over here. He scanned him and he said it was the start of tendonitis in his [superficial] left front tendon and ... you give him three to six ...
