Paul Sheard is a former motocross rider turned point to point jockey. He finished second in the Welsh Point to Point Grand National at Bonvilston on Gouranga Society at 20/1 which Eliza writes about on her latest blog. Paul's enthusiasm for horses and a sport fairly new to him is evident in the interview; which was conducted at the Bush Inn at St.Hilary the week after the race.

Eliza interviews Rockabilly Jewellery designer Bete Noire at Cheltenham races [01:37]
Beth like Eliza hails from the Forest of Dean. She designs in vogue rockabilly 'pin-up' style jewellery which sells to the burlesque, vintage and rockabilly crowd under the name Bete Noire. She and sister Rhiannon were having their first trip to the races and she has done some jewellery pieces with equine and racing slogans such as 'Dead Cert' , 'Fast Filly, and 'Hot to Trot'; still in keeping with the rock and roll/tattoo slogan theme. Beth and Rhiannon throughly enjoyed their day with Eliza and at the races. Beth only had one bet which finished last; but sister Rhiannon went close with a second.

Traditional Bells wins the maiden at Bonvilston ...Eliza waits to present a trophy [01:26]
A popular winner of the day at Bonvilston pt to pt near Cardiff was 'Traditional Bells' who was ridden by Evan David to win the maiden . All the winners at Bonvilston receive a trophy of a fine art print by Eliza's artist partnwer David Dent. In addition there is a cup from the race sponsor; plus champagne. So even though it is an amateur sport; it is nice for the winner to have something by which to remember the day their horse won its first race....

co owner of Tickity Bleue Peter Gordon chats to Eliza at Cheltenham [01:14]
One of Eliza's friends Peter Gordon is co owner in a small syndicate of 'Tickity Bleue' an exciting prospect for next season trained by Alan King . She was beaten on this ocassion by Glorious Twelfth from the Nicky Henderson yard; but had beaten it on her sole run previously at Newbury. The big tests is always Cheltenham to see if a horse copes with the hill; and also they were unsure about the soft going but she handled it well. The race was a 'bumper' - an introduction to racecourse action for future jumpers but on the flat; also known as a 'National Hunt flat race'. Tickity Bleue was giving weight to Glorious Twelfth (and the rest of the runners) because of the fact she'd won before; but the latter is a 5 year old. The last race of the day on a filthy afternoon; many racegoers had departed and as a result have probably missed two of the new stars of next season...
