[shackleford] *READ DESC.* [00:21]
Yeah, this is awful. I'm well aware. It's awful because my WMM on my mom's computer broke. Which basically = no more videos for right now. It's something to do with actually playing video clips that I have to sit down and figure out. I had a whole Shackleford tribute planned out, using video clips, but then WMM and I had to make this on MY computer, which has an even older version of WMM so less effects and I can't download videos on THIS computer because of a flash problem so.. yeah. :| Anywayy, da SHACK ATTACK! :DI lovee this horse! I don't care what you say, no horse in this year's crop of three-year-olds has as much heart. I've got a thing with speed horses. I love em'. And Shack is just so beautiful.. and brave.. I looovvee him. Second only to Jaycito (: I think he actually has a very good shot of winning the Belmont if he can relax. Because he'll dig down in the stretch, no matter what the distance.

Horse racing oddity: incredible stretch run [06:18]
Donnaguska, a first time starter owned by Billy Hays and trained by Joe Woodard, makes a remarkable stretch run to win her debut by two and a quarter lengths at Hawthorne Race Course on October 23, 2008. As track announcer Peter Galassi noted, Donnaguska was "far, far, far, far back" early under jockey Israel Ocampo. The three-year-old daughter of Yonaguska was sent off at 17-1, the second longest shot in the field of nine. She is number three, but for most of the video that doesn't matter because you won't see her. According to the official chart she was about 23 1/2 lengths behind at the top of the stretch, meaning she ran her final quarter-mile in roughly :21 1/5.

Frankel - Newmarket (The Rowley Mile) - The Dewhurst Stakes (Group 1) 7f (2yo) [04:31]
The coming together of the unbeaten Frankel, Dream Ahead and Saamidd made this one of the most eagerly awaited 2yo races for a long time, and though the battle between the 3 failed to materialize, the last 2 running well below expectations, it still took a high-class effort from Frankel to prevail, bettered only by New Approach in this race in recent times, and the form is underpinned by an excellent timefigure. FRANKEL completed the perfect season, beating everything put in front of him so far, looking every inch a champion and achieving the ratings--including timefigures--to match, even though this wasn't quite the anticipated acid test with Dream Ahead and Saamidd disappointing; all the same, it didn't go smoothly for Frankel as a bump departing the stall left him last and lit up, not settling at all, and that he still cruised through before asserting under a hand ride says it all about his exceptional talent, as well as his standing potential, unextended all along and physically the type to make an even better 3-yo; though it's a long way off, the Guineas is at his mercy, reportedly set for a spring prep run, understandable if only to get the freshness out of him, as his natural exuberance (always wears crossed noseband) is the only apparent chink in his armour so far, not that it held him back here, nor would it in the Guineas, but getting him to stretch to the Derby trip may be another matter; Timeform's highest-rated 2-yo in Europe since Xaar in 1997, Frankel has ...

--Face Your Fear-- [01:57]
Hope this is at least sliiiiighhhtly epic in some way because I've spent a bit longer on this than any recent video... The bits with the race commentary are supposed to show what can happen when you aren't afraid to try, when faced with the possibility of failure. 100-1 shots sometimes win (Mon Mome's National). Matt Crawley could easily have pulled up Last Rose of Summer in a low grade race at Mussleburgh after his saddle slipped, and no one would have blamed him. But he kept going and jumped about 6 hurdles bareback before riding out a finish to win. And Kauto Star regained the Cheltenham Gold Cup, when every statistic suggested it couldn't be done. When I ride, whether it's exercising, schooling, or in a race, I'm not afraid of falling, I'm afraid of screwing up and letting down the horse, the trainer, the owner etc...In my experience, the biggest fear of failure comes when you're unbeaten. Once you get that first defeat out of the way the risk of failure seems less, as does it's cost. Anyway...that's what the general idea of this video is about. If you're afraid to have a shot at what you want, you'll never have a chance to get it. All the fallers (both horse, and jockey) were fine. I don't like some of the voicover bits in the first half, but the words seemed to fit, so I suppose it doesn't matter what they sound like. Hope you enjoy it :)

Valenzo FL Horsepark Jan 15 2011 [06:07]
WMM messed up the music transitions!! Me and Valenzo riding third level test 2 at the FL horsepark January 15 2011. This was our first show, after riding him for only 2 months. His trot is Amazing! it is just his "normal"( if you can call it normal) trot, it is no where near his "second" trot! What would you say this ride is worthy of? somewhere around the 70's? I think so. Well, the judge, Marian Cunningham (s) gave our ride a 59%! This just goes to show that judges out here in redneck land don't know a thing about dressage. all they see is horses moving like stick horses all day long. And when they see a nice horse they just want to mock that pair because it is of more quality than the "rest of the horses" If i were to have ridden this test in Wellington (west palm beach, FL) or in the Netherlands, it would have been scored correctly. The first test i did (third level test 1) was scored appropriately with a 63%. Valenzo wasn't really "with me" and not paying attention in that ride, But this one! we were the best at the show! Not one horse came close to Valenzo (quality wise) But you know what? I don't care that the judge gave aa ridiculously low score (just goes to show what a fool she is) I know I rode great and that's all that matters! (after a while, once i ride more shows, judges will not be able to give me low scores anymore) My favorite moment of the ride was at 5:13 to 5:16, I looked to my left, the stands were full and it was very quiet. Thanks for watching and ...
