1986 Belmont Stakes - Part 3 [05:51]
The railbirds began chanting ''Woody! Woody! Woody!'' in midstretch, as Danzig Connection under Chris McCarron pulled away to win the 118th Belmont Stakes yesterday and provide his trainer, Woody Stephens, with his fifth straight and most improbable winner of the final leg of the Triple Crown. Said Stephens: "The track was sloppy for the Belmont and Danzig Connection moved with Charlie's horse (the Charlie Whittingham-trained Ferdinand). He just opened up when they came to him and no one was going to get him if they had gone around again. "I think this win gave me the most satisfaction because here was a horse with a chip in his knee, and I nominated him to all three Triple Crown races knowing I couldn't make the Derby or the Preakness."

1995 Early Times Manhattan Handicap Grade I [05:05]
Awad rallied from last to first to nose Blues Traveller at the wire in the Grade I $500000-added Early Times Manhattan over the mile and a quarter inner-turf course. "This is a mile-and-a-half horse," said Dave Donk, Awad's trainer. "So this is a huge race for him. He's got to get lucky, he needs pace, and he got it." The final time of 1:58 2/5 was eye popping --just four ticks off the track record. And Awad returned $16.20 for a $2 win bet. But a photo was needed to separate the two. "I was just screaming, 'Come on wire, come on wire,' " said Chris mccarron, who rode Blues Traveller.
