Red Rum- The 1973 Grand National (Aintree) [03:05]
Red Rum is perhaps the world's most famous racehorse. Red Rum's 1973 comeback victory from 30 lengths behind is often considered one of the greatest Grand Nationals in history. Red Rum beat the Australian chaser Crisp, carrying 23 pounds more, in what was a new record time of nine minutes, 1.9 seconds. The jockey on the historic day was Brian Fletcher and the horse was trained by Ginger McCain.

Part 2 of the Retired Race Horse Thoroughbred Training Project with Eric Dierks. [35:06]
I chose "Brazilian Wedding" at the Trainer's Challenge. Every horse has a certain quality that just stands out for a first impression. For Brazilian it was her overall proportioned sleek look. When looking at her for a more detailed assessment, I liked her comfortable eye, big ears, and the fact she was on all four feet whenever standing. Though skinny after her let down after racing, she has the bone to bulk up some muscle for power. She also has a very feminine look without being dainty. After all, pretty is what pretty does. Horse racing oddity: incredible stretch run [06:18]
Donnaguska, a first time starter owned by Billy Hays and trained by Joe Woodard, makes a remarkable stretch run to win her debut by two and a quarter lengths at Hawthorne Race Course on October 23, 2008. As track announcer Peter Galassi noted, Donnaguska was "far, far, far, far back" early under jockey Israel Ocampo. The three-year-old daughter of Yonaguska was sent off at 17-1, the second longest shot in the field of nine. She is number three, but for most of the video that doesn't matter because you won't see her. According to the official chart she was about 23 1/2 lengths behind at the top of the stretch, meaning she ran her final quarter-mile in roughly :21 1/5.
