IndyCar Confirm Dan Wheldons Death 16/10/11 - HD - RIP Dan Wheldon [01:21]
Content is not mine, ESPN. Using it not for infringement but to pay repects for Dan Wheldon. At the 2011 IZOD IndyCar World Championship at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on 16 October 2011, Wheldon was involved in a 15-car accident during lap 11 of the race. The multi-car pile-up resulted in a red flag. Wheldon had to be extricated from his car and was airlifted to a local hospital with what were described as "serious injuries." He subsequently died of his injuries. He was 33 years old. It was decided by the IndyCar officials and drivers that the race would be abandoned, and that a five-lap salute would be held in his honour, with Wheldon's number 77 being displayed alone at the top of the scoring pylon. After his death, Michael Andretti revealed that Wheldon had signed with Andretti Racing for a multi-year deal to replace driver Danica Patrick. Information From Wikipedia. Barney Naughton owner of Solfen 18, Ireland (Jim McGrath's Cheltenham Festival Finest) [14:00]
The 20 best horses to grace the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival as chosen by Jim McGrath. In 1960, Barney's horse Solfen made racing history at the three-day Cheltenham Racing Festival. The horse won a three mile chase on Day Two and a three mile hurdle on Day Three. Solfen's first race, the Broadway Novices Chase - now the Royal & Sun Alliance Chase - was noteworthy in that the eight year old gelding romped home by twenty-five lengths. Solfen was ridden by Pat Taaffe and twenty-one horses ran.

Here are races 7-11 from the April 15, 2001 (Easter Sunday) card at Hialeah Park. Frank Mirahmadi hosts the replay show and calls the races. The featured race was the $75000 Seminole Handicap, won by Fappie's Notebook with Abdiel Toribio for trainer Emanuel Tortora. Marge and Irving Cowan owned the 4-year-old homebred, who earned his first stakes victory in the Seminole and would go on to win the 2001 Smile Sprint Handicap and 2002 Grade 3 Deputy Minster Handicap. Other highlights include an advertisement for Fantasy Lane Stable and the winning (via disqualification) debut of What a Price.

Working Class Hero: Barron H [02:30]
Race 7 on October 18, 2003 at Bay Meadows attracted strong group of claiming sprinters on the Northern California circuit. Barron H, ridden here by Joey Castro for trainer Brian Koriner, would come out on top that day. He and Twentythreejaybird, Lytle Creek, Fog City Wily, and Spanish Eyes were all frequent winner's circle visitors in Northern California in the early and mid 00s. Of note: Barron H's trainer was assisted by former jockey Ingrid Mason, who has taken out her trainer's license and just finished finished ninth in the Arlington Park trainer standings.
