Only five runners went to post for this Grade One event, and, on paper, it looked a two horse. That's how it panned out as Alderwood and Trifolium battled it out. In an epic tussle Tony McCoy and Alderwood just prevailed.

MVHC Combined Test April 2012 Beginner Novice Dressage [03:46]
Ben and I riding through Beginner Novice A at the MVHC combined test. Again, aside from his left canter transition it was a really steady test, especially for him. We scored a 39.5. We tied for first but our collective marks were slighly less stellar than the other person so we placed second instead of first. Really proud of him!

Lion Na Bearnai sprung a 33-1 shock for small time trainer Tomas Gibney and claiming jockey Andrew Thornton, but a closer inspection of his form never warranted such a lofty starting price. In the end he fended off the gallant Out Now with Alfie Sherrin in third and Paddy Pub in fourth.
