Boys At Tosconova - 2010 Hopeful Stakes (G1) [03:42]
SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY -- When Boys At Tosconova came into the stretch six lengths clear of his rivals in a July 2 maiden race at Belmont Park, trainer Richard Dutrow Jr. had a flashback. "It was like when we watched Big Brown run for the first time for us," said Dutrow, referring to the horse that won the Kentucky Derby and Preakness for him in 2008. "We were scared to death to run him that day, but when he turned for home our whole lives changed." Speaking of Boys At Tosconova, Dutrow said: "The other day with him, when he turned for home you knew you had a really, really exciting 2-year-old." That's why Dutrow is really, really excited to run Boys At Tosconova in Monday's Grade 1, $250000 Hopeful Stakes, the closing-day feature on an 11-race card at Saratoga. The Hopeful will be Boys At Tosconova's first race since his maiden win, but that was by design. Dutrow wanted to give the horse plenty of time between starts. Boys At Tosconova has trained extremely well in Saratoga for Dutrow, who has not stopped talking about this colt for the 6 1/2 weeks he's been here. "I get 30 to 40 babies a year," Dutrow said. "I haven't had one like him." Dutrow said that every rider who gets on Boys At Tosconova in the morning comes away in awe of the colt, who outworked the 3-year-old Trickmeister in an Aug. 17 move. That includes Ramon Dominguez, who was aboard for the colt's 12-length maiden win in his first start for Dutrow after being purchased privately by Mac and Samantha Siegel's ...

New York Watch: Hysterical Cat [01:22]
Talk about a catalogue update. Hysterical Cat, a full-brother to a colt who sells tonight in the second and final session of the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga NY Bred Preferred Yearling sale, ran away to an impressive debut victory over New York-breds in the second race today at Saratoga Race Course. Hysterical Cat joins the New York Watch series, which profiles up-and-comers that have recently cleared the maiden ranks at Aqueduct, Belmont Park, and Saratoga. His page is located at [link]. No secret as the 8-5 favorite in the field of seven, Hysterical Cat was asked for speed early by John Velazquez, and the bay colt delivered by dueling with Read the Contract through an opening quarter of 21.84. Clear at the top of the stretch after his early challenger faltered, Hysterical Cat was kept to task in the stretch and found the wire 3 ½ lengths in front of Crea's Law and stopped the timer in 58.26 for five furlongs. Hysterical Cat is trained by Todd Pletcher and owned by WinStar Farm, the same team behind his freshman sire Bluegrass Cat, winner of the 2005 Grade 2 Remsen at Aqueduct and the 2006 Grade 1 Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park. Bluegrass Cat, who stands at WinStar Farm, is off to a fast start at stud, having been represented by 11 winners so far in 2010. Offered at last year's Saratoga NY Bred Preferred Yearling sale, Hysterical Cat failed to meet his reserve when the bidding stopped at $72000 and was subsequently acquired privately by WinStar. "We always support our ...

Claiming Races - Come Home [[150 subscribers]] [02:31]
I think this will be my 150 subs video cos it's the first video in a while that I even half like...thank you all so much, i never thought i would get even 10 so thank you!! Sorry for the recycled clips but...so anyway, this is supposed to be about claiming races. I know the quote from Dreamer is overused but it is so true. In racing horses come and go and even if you're really attached to a horse you have to content yourself with the fact that somewhere they're still around, even if they're now on the other side of the country. Otherwise you could never survive in this game. You've got to learn to let go. But the problem with claimers and sellers is that while you always know there's a possibility of the horse not coming home, you don't know if they're going to get claimed right until the last minute. That makes the race even more tense to watch. It's happened to me a few times and it's really awful. Fortunately they never got claimed or were always bid back, but it's still not a nice thing. But still, horses come and go all the time getting sold privately etc, so there's always someone to miss. This is what this is about, the people who miss thm most which is the lads that look after them and the people that work with them at home. The quote is absolutely true. It might seem exaggereated, but believe me it is one hundred percent correct. If the money or the circumstances are right, "every racehorse, everywhere in the world, right now is for sale". Ps. If you read this ...
