A Short video I have put together in memory of my beloved Profit who passed away Jan 19 2011. He was an incredible athlete, 22 years old and such a gentle giant. He brought so much happiness to my life and it was always an incredible rush to run barrels on him. They say every barrel racer hopes she can find the one horse who can win that World Championship but I dont believe thats true for all of us. Profit was a World Champion to me, yes he won some races and even won money but more importantly he was a true champion. He wont be well known or famous and hundreds of girls didnt scream and get excited when he entered the arena and his name was called, that is except for one girl...me. Thanks for giving me the ride of a lifetime everytime my P Man. You were my Hot Shot, My Scamper, my Secretariat all into one! Hope this is at least sliiiiighhhtly epic in some way because I've spent a bit longer on this than any recent video... The bits with the race commentary are supposed to show what can happen when you aren't afraid to try, when faced with the possibility of failure. 100-1 shots sometimes win (Mon Mome's National). Matt Crawley could easily have pulled up Last Rose of Summer in a low grade race at Mussleburgh after his saddle slipped, and no one would have blamed him. But he kept going and jumped about 6 hurdles bareback before riding out a finish to win. And Kauto Star regained the Cheltenham Gold Cup, when every statistic suggested it couldn't be done. When I ride, whether it's exercising, schooling, or in a race, I'm not afraid of falling, I'm afraid of screwing up and letting down the horse, the trainer, the owner etc...In my experience, the biggest fear of failure comes when you're unbeaten. Once you get that first defeat out of the way the risk of failure seems less, as does it's cost. Anyway...that's what the general idea of this video is about. If you're afraid to have a shot at what you want, you'll never have a chance to get it. All the fallers (both horse, and jockey) were fine. I don't like some of the voicover bits in the first half, but the words seemed to fit, so I suppose it doesn't matter what they sound like. Hope you enjoy it :)
