Working Class Hero: True Dancer [02:29]
True Dancer's career went full circle, as he debuted in 2003 at Calder Race Course, became a stalwart on grass in Northern California after being acquired privately by owner Robert Bone, and returned to the East Coast after being claimed by IEAH at Del Mar in 2007. The gelding competed at Calder, Delaware Park, Golden Gate Fields, Del Mar, Hollywood Park, Santa Anita, Turf Paradise, Fairplex Park, Gulfstream Park, Keeneland, Belmont Park, Saratoga Race Course, the Meadowlands, and Aqueduct. He also ended his career at Calder, finishing ninth on January 3, 2011 at the age of 11. In this video, he wins an optional claimer at Bay Meadows as a 4-year-old under jockey Chad Schvaneveldt for trainer John Martin.

Footage from Bay Meadows shot on December 26, 1985 [11:21]
Here is some footage from Bay Meadows Racecourse my father shot with the family camcorder in the mid 1980s. The opening exterior shot was filmed in the spring or summer of 1984, while the racing footage was filmed on December 26, 1985. Jockeys mentioned in this video include Hall of Famer Russell Baze (then 27-years-old), Vicki Aragon (now Vicki Baze after marrying Russell's cousin, Gary), Chad Schvaneveldt, Ken Tohill, and retired riders Roberto Gonzalez, Chris Lamance, and Tom Chapman. Miss Chanago, the filly who won the $17000 allowance feature that day and who was described by father described as a "damn nice horse," was ridden by Marco Castaneda for Bill Morey, Jr. It'd be her final career start. John Gibson was the track announcer.
