Seattle Slew's 1977 Triple Crown [05:44]
Me filming my TV with my camcorder...the VHS "Jewels of the Triple Crown" which I love and sadly you can't buy as a DVD...my first copy was destroyed...I bought a second copy and the quality is lacking. But I still wanted to give it a try. I had hoped they'd come out with a DVD since to date we still haven't had any Triple Crown winner after Affirmed. In my view Slew was greater than next year's champion--his times were faster, and twice he beat the younger Affirmed. Yet for some reason it is Affirmed people remember. Not me. I was a Slew fan. I went to Longacres Race Track after Slew retired--he went to several tracks for a farewell gallop, and I got to see him. An experience I'll never forget.

Cordero on Cordero - 1984 Whitney Handicap (G1) [03:53]
The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) has released the second video in its "Cordero on Cordero" series, in which Hall of Fame jockey Angel Cordero, Jr. recounts some of the most memorable moments and biggest wins in his career. The second installment revisits Cordero's victory in the 1984 Grade 1 Whitney Handicap aboard Slew o' Gold. In the clip Cordero recalls bantering with Track Barron's rider, Jean Cruguet, before and during the race. Slew o' Gold would go on to easily defeat Track Barron, giving Cordero his first triumph in the Whitney. As a jockey Cordero won 7057 races, including many of the most prestigious events in North America. In New York alone, Cordero won the 1976 Belmont Stakes, six editions of the Woodward (including five straight from 1981-1985), five runnings of the Suburban, and the 1985 Travers. He added a second Whitney victory in 1985, ironically aboard Track Barron.

Dynaslew - 2010 Ballston Spa (G2) [02:01]
Dynaslew collared front-running Silver Reunion with a furlong to go and went on to post a half-length victory Saturday afternoon in the 22nd running of the Grade 2, $200000 Ballston Spa Handicap at Saratoga Race Course. Patiently ridden by Eibar Coa, the 4-year-old Dynaformer filly sat just two lengths behind Silver Reunion, who led the field of 10 fillies and mares through opening fractions of 23.44, 47.54 and 1:11.15 over the firm Inner Turf course. Silver Reunion straightened for home with a clear lead, but Dynaslew was just hitting her best stride and after battling briefly with the pacesetter, began edging to the front and hit the wire in 1:40.58 for the 1 1/16th miles. "In the stretch, she just kept digging and digging and digging," said Coa of Dynaslew, whose previous graded stakes victory came in the Grade 3 Beaugay at Belmont Park in May. "She never stopped running." The victory was the third in five starts this year for Dynaslew, who in her previous start finished fourth, beaten just a neck, by Proviso in the Grade 1 Diana at the Spa on July 31. Trained by Seth Benzel for Live Oak Plantation, she earned $240000 for the victory, nearly doubling her bankroll to $486850. Overall, Dynaslew is 5-4-0 from 13 starts.
