Hastings Park horse races: Churchill Handicap Senor Rojo Sep262010 [02:41]
On a sloppy, drying out track before one of the largest crowds in recent memory, 6 older runners raced in the Churchill Handicap @ 1 & one-eighth miles, @ Hastings Park in Vancouver BC. Eight yr old Spaghetti Mouse set the pace as expected, and held on well to be a clear cut 2nd to Senor Rojo. Some fans bet on Trick of the North, ridden by star jockey Russell Baze, to repeat his Aug 2 performance, but he was unable to mount a serious challenge. Great job by trainer Dave Forster to have Senor Rojo set to run a big one! Surprisingly, Almost Time apparently didn't like the track & never threatened.

Hastings Park horse races - Teide a champion [00:37]
Teide shines in this race, dominating a competitive field of older runners in early September 2009, including Spaghetti Mouse. The Mouse has been a fan favourite here for years, amassing nearly 900000 in earnings, but has lost a few steps this year at age 8. Still, he and Krazy Koffee, the '08 BC Derby winner, are no slouches, and any doubts about Teide's capabilities were throughly erased today, when he demolished the field in convincing fashion.
