A humble $2500 sales purchase, standing but 15 hands high and weighing only 900 pounds, Larry The Legend knocked off two giants. He caught previously undefeated Afternoon Deelites, the 7-5 favorite with Kent Desormeaux, at the wire while the rally of 2-year-old champion Timber Country fell short. With Pat Day aboard, Timber Country could do no better than fourth as the 9-5 second choice of 36003 fans.
