Subscribe for the latest news from SNTV: bit.ly "Bladerunner" Oscar Pistorius raced against a horse in Doha on Wednesday and won - all in an effort to promote disability sport and fight discrimination in the region. Normally when a horse takes on a human in a race there's usually only one winner but that was before Oscar Pistorius challenged a noble steed to a sprint and it was the horse who came away with a long face. The Aspire Zone in Doha witnessed "Bladerunner", beating an Arabian horse as part of the 'Definitely Able' campaign which uses special events to highlight the exceptional feats Paralympic athletes are capable of. Reporter question: "Oscar, how was it?" Oscar Pistorius: "I think you know, for what it's... it wasn't about who won today, it was just about coming out here and really just showing people that those (people) with disabilities are not to be stereotyped against... Having the Arab horse out here, which is a symbolisation of strength and power in this region... To be able to do a showcase event like this is a lot of fun. So thanks to everybody who came out here, it was a good night and hopefully it will do a lot to change the perceptions of people with disabilities in this region." Several noted athletes have pitted themselves against animal opposition with limited success over the years. Hij is weer als vanouds en zelfs nog een stukje verder. Het is een heel ander paard geworden na zijn castratie. Veel rustiger in de omgang en zit zichzelf niet meer zo in de weg. Wat hij nog wel steeds doet is zijn dekens slopen. Hij stond zaterdag nog alleen maar met een singel om in zijn box, en de deken lag met een enorme scheur op de grond. Maar qua werk doet hij het prima! En dan ben je zo'n deken al weer snel vergeten :-) Hij loopt heel goed, en volgens mij heeft hij er zelf ook veel schik in. Kijk maar eens naar zijn oortjes als hij aan het werk is. Nu voor het eerst met een open hoofdstel gelopen, en woensdag komt de hoefsmid langs voor Cantona's eerste hoefijzers!
