1983 dewhurst stakes el gran senor [02:31]
el gran senor as a 2yo winning the 1983 dewhurst from rainbow quest who later went on to win the arc (in the stewards room). el gran senor always travelled so well in his races and had a great turn of foot but as soon as he hit the front he seemed to think he'd done enough, one of the best 2000 guineas winners ever seen, went on to be 2nd in the 84 epsom derby, maybe should have won it, and then won the irish derby.

WHIPPING PROTEST - What is your decision? [00:17]
What is your decision? This is the head on vision of a protest at Moonee Valley Melbourne on Friday March 25 2011. The jockey,Michael Guthrie, riding LADY LYNETTE (in the green blinkers and white cap) protests against the jockey, Craig Newitt, who rode the horse first past the post NAKAAYA (in the white, with the blue top and cap). The protest was second against first for interference in the straight, being that the Jockey Newitt struck LADY LYNETTE four times on the head with his WHIP in the straight. The winning margin was a NOSE. The stewards DISMISSED THE PROTEST. What do you think? Should a jockey be allowed to hit a horse on the head four times and still win the race?
