The first Group 1 of the year for older horses in Ireland typically attracted just a handful of runners, but we were treated to a superb performance from one of the top older horses currently in training; the pace was just fair. CAMPANOLOGIST (USA) was well placed to win a pair of German Group 1s last year and may have to go on his travels again if he is to add to his tally, this improved effort still some way short of the standard normally required to win one of these races in Britain or Ireland, simply no match for the winner having been on that one's quarters turning for home.
