Perfect Advertising Opportunity- Sponsor Racecar Driver Chase Briscoe [04:01]
CHASE BRISCOE MITCHELL, IN BIRTHDATE: 12/15/94 CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: 2002 At age seven raced first quarter midget race at Mini Indy. Finished first in first ever heat race as well as feature event. One of very few drivers to accomplish a win during debut race. Due to my father, Kevin Briscoe, racing schedule, I was only able to compete in two QMA events. 2006 Age eleven started racing again. This time in a 600 mini sprint. First race of the season, finished third in feature event. Second race took place at Southern Illinois Raceway (Marion, Illinois). I captured my first victory in the mini sprint. During my limited fourteen race schedule, I claimed five victories at three different race tracks across the state of Indiana and Illinois. 2007 Continued to race 600 micro sprints (winged and non-wing). Won five feature events out of ten events. 2008 Age thirteen, I started racing 410 wing and non-wing sprint cars. Finished tenth in racing debut out of forty competitors. Second race of the season I had a second place finish in feature event. In September of rookie year, won feature event at Paragon Speedway. This win claimed the title of Youngest Driver to Win in a 410 Sprint Car. This record was previously held by Jeff Gordon at the age of fourteen. Finished rookie year with one feature win, eight top five finishes and seventeen top ten finishes out of thirty-seven races. Second place finish in points at Paragon Speedway. 2009 Second full year in 410 sprint cars. Completed ...

2003 Breeders' Cup Turf + Post Race [19:28]
Through its first 19 runnings, the Breeders' Cup Turf consistently has produced close finishes. In the first 10 years, the largest margin of victory was half a length. The most decisive winner was Daylami, the 8-5 favorite who won by two lengths four years ago at Gulfstream Park. The 20th Breeders' Cup Turf on Saturday gave tight a whole new meaning. For the first time in the history of any Breeders' Cup race, there was a dead heat for the win when defending champion High Chaparral and 14-1 shot Johar couldn't be separated at the wire. It took three pictures and some 13 minutes before the photo finish sign came down and the dead heat was confirmed. Falbrav, the 7-2 second choice, almost made it a triple dead heat. He was only a head back after having the lead approaching the wire. Watching the race live, many believed High Chaparral had won. Jockey Mick Kinane thought so, especially after former jockey Donna Barton, who was working on horseback for NBC, approached him as if he had. Richard Mulhall, racing manager for the Thoroughbred Corp., which owns Johar, agreed with Kinane. "When I first saw it, I thought we were second," he said. "I didn't think he got up. After I watched the replay over and over and over, then I thought we won it. "When it was taking so long, I was thinking, well, it has to be a dead heat. I'm happy with a dead heat. It's no disgrace to dead heat with High Chaparral. He's an awful good horse." It was the third of four victories on the day for ...

1979 Belmont Stakes: CBS Broadcast [18:03]
History and the long, demanding stretch at Belmont Park had caught up with Spectacular Bid. With a short distance remaining in the Belmont Stakes last Saturday, he was leading, seemingly drawing away from his seven rivals. He was four lengths in front of 12-to-1 shot General Assembly and looking just as strong as he had while rattling off victories in 12 consecutive stakes races. Just 660 yards to go to the third Triple Crown in three years. But then Spectacular Bid began to behave like a very fat man trying to run up a very steep hill. In the stretch curve he drifted out from the rail. His lead diminished. He was having trouble getting air into his lungs, and his legs seemed to desert him. With a furlong to go, he was a beaten horse, seconds away from joining the company of Pensive, Tim Tam, Carry Back, Northern Dancer, Kauai King, Forward Pass, Majestic Prince and Canonero II—the band of Derby and Preakness winners that came a cropper at Belmont. The winner, Coastal, was one of those lightly raced colts that periodically come out of old-line barns to waste Belmont pretenders. The steady Golden Act, spear-carrier-in-chief in the classic races, was second. Bid, who had been described by his trainer, Bud Delp, as the greatest horse ever to look through a bridle, was looking at the nearly four lengths of track between his nose and Coastal's as he finished third. Did Bid's young jockey, Ron Franklin, ride the horse badly? Some of the jocks in the race and those watching from ...

1995 Florida Derby Day & Jerry Bailey's Record Setting 7 Wins [23:38]
Jerry Bailey rode seven winners today at Gulfstream Park but missed the big one by a nose when Suave Prospect lost a photo finish to Thunder Gulch and Mike Smith in the 44th Florida Derby. In a driving duel between the two top horses and jockeys at the track, Thunder Gulch made it two straight in the "Florida triple" series. Only three weeks ago he had been flown from California by D. Wayne Lukas and won the Fountain of Youth Stakes by a neck over Suave Prospect, who is trained by Nick Zito. And the two colts now seem locked in a rivalry that may continue until the Kentucky Derby on May 6, when they will be joined by a delegation from the West. "Right now, Thunder Gulch is king of the hill in the East," Lukas said. "Our horse was game, his horse was game. Both horses took large steps forward. They're like Affirmed and Alydar. But we've got their horse's number. We'll break his heart eventually." To which Zito responded, "There's always Kentucky." But even though he lost the main event by a nose, no rider ever had a better afternoon at Gulfstream Park than Bailey, and few anywhere else. The 37-year-old Texan rode 10 horses and made the winner's circle seven times. Along the way, he broke the track record of six victories set in six races in 1953 by Charlie Burr, and also tied the stakes record of four set in 1988 by Randy Romero, also on Florida Derby day. But he couldn't quite reach the national record of eight, set by seven jockeys, most recently by Pat Day at Arlington ...
