Horse racing oddity: horse running the wrong way [04:50]
Things became very scary at Louisiana Downs on September 4, 2011, when Secretfly unseated his rider at the start of the ninth race. Thankfully no horse or rider was hurt. The head-on replay follows at 2:40, and offers a much better look at what happened. Following a stewards inquiry, the race was declared a no contest and all wagers were refunded. Travis Stone is the announcer.

Lake & Ludlow 4.29.11.avi [02:46]
Lake and Ludlow ran a closing 5th in the 9th race today, Opening Day at Beautiful Belmont Park. He broke very sharply with the pack and rushed himself up into contention before he realized what was going on. The Jock said he was taken by surprise by all the action and just ran. Once "the Rocket" got a hold of him he got L&L to relax behind horses and save some run for the stretch. He did end up closing nicely passing horses in the stretch and got a 5th for his first time out. The positive thing is he was in contention at the beginning of the race, dropped back and then closed at the end against open horses many of them multiple starters. The yielding turf tired him out but he handled the turf very well. With a bit longer race and a firm course Bruce is confident that we will get the Big Prize with this horse. We had a great crowd and everybody had a good time! Thanks for all your support and patience, it was surely worth it!
