Great runnings of the Travers Stakes up to and including 1989, narrated by NYRA's John Imbriale.. The Travers Stakes is an American Grade I Thoroughbred horse race held at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York. First held in 1864, it was named for William R. Travers, the president of the old Saratoga Racing Association. His horse, Kentucky, won the first running of the Travers. Firstly, apologies for the shaky camera, zoom plus thousands of people scrambling to get a glimpse of Frankel didn't help :) Here are a few short clips of Frankel, during the Juddmonte International Stakes at York Racecourse 22/08/2012. I was grateful to be able to see the champion horse up close and it will be a day I'll always remember.
