Breeders’ Cup Update

With the Breeders’ Cup being only two weeks away, the excitement of this magnificent horse racing event is beginning to gain momentum. It will be hosted at the Santa Anita Park Racecourse on the 24th and 25th of October 2008 and many horses have qualified for the individual racing events. There will be a total of fourteen races run over the two day period, and already, as the confirmations of competitors come rolling in, punters are watching the betting establishments very closely.

The Breeder’s Cup always causes frenzy when it comes to betting, and the sooner horses are confirmed as contenders, the faster punters are able to make up their minds as to which horse stands a better chance at winning. Many horses have qualified to participate in the various Breeders’ Cup horse racing events and it is expected that confirmations will begin to come in during the next week. A few contenders have already booked their place at the Santa Anita Park Racecourse.

Horses that have qualified for the Breeders’ Cup Classic include Anak Nakal, Big Brown, Casino Drive, Colonel John, Commentator, Curlin, Go Between, Henrythenavigator, Mambo in Seattle, Tiago and Well Armed, of which Commentator and Go Between have confirmed their presence. In the Breeders’ Cup Turf, Presious Passion, Spirit One, Grand Couturier and Spring House will be running, and confirmation is still awaited from Archipenko, Better Talk Now, Champs Elysees, Dancing Forever, Gio Ponti, Red Giant, Red Rocks, Stream Cat, Tizdejavu, Winchester and Youmzain. Of the twelve horses that have qualified for the Breeders’ Cup Mile, only Good Ba Ba and Whatthescript have announced they are running, but it is expected that horses such as Shakis, Raven’s Pass and Thorn Song will also be in the starting gates. Some horses such as Well Armed and Commentator have qualified for more than one event, and trainers will be faced with the choice of racing in the event that will be best suited for their horse.

Other racing events at the Breeders’ Cup include the Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic, the Breeders’ Cup Sprint, Breeders’ Cup Marathon, Breeders’ Cup Classic, Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile, Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, Breeders’ Cup Fillies and Mares Turf and the Breeders’ Cup Fillies and Mares Sprint. Once all the contenders have been confirmed for their events wagering can begin, and punters will be able to select their favorites.
