Sea The Stars growing Stronger

His cool and calm demeanor would make most people wonder, if Sea The Stars has any fire in him, to win big horse racing events. But he has proven that one does not need fire to be victorious, winning all six of the last career starts in his quiet and composed way. His victories are even more astounding, as four consecutive Group 1 wins has definitely caught the attention of the horse racing community and of racing enthusiasts. On Tuesday, 18 August 2009, Sea The Stars ran home in first place during the Juddmonte International, boosting his career and showcasing his phenomenal racing talent.

Spectators rushed towards the winners circle as Sea The Stars was led to receive his prize and glory at the Juddmonte International. Finding himself up against a group of Aiden O’Brian trained competitors, including four time Group 1 winner, Mastercraftsman, seemed to be a daunting task, but Mick Kinane took a few chances, which paid off, and ended up in a nail-biting finish with Mastercraftsman and Johnny Murtagh. After the race, Kinane commented to the press that his plan was to follow Mastercraftsman, and as soon as they had slipped past the pacemakers, they began to chase him down. “Then Johnny quickened and found a couple of lengths and his horse has run a hell of a race. Just a combination of those things made it more difficult than maybe it should have been.” Aiden O’Brian was extremely satisfied with the performance delivered by Mastercraftsman, as Sea The Stars did not get an easy win. Both horses raced bravely to the finish line, with Sea The Stars proving to have a little more edge on the day.

Trainer John Oxx also expressed his excitement in regard to the victory of Sea The Stars, confirming a few possibilities that are being looked at for his next career start. The Irish Champion Stakes which takes place in Leopardstown on the 5th of September 2009, seems to be very good option, where Sea The Stars would be facing off against Fame And Glory. The Breeders’ Cup Classis is also an option at this stage, but Oxx has not committed himself to any of the races just yet. Spectators will have to wait for confirmation, to find out where this magnificent equine athlete can be seen in action again.
