For the thousands out there who are not familiar with horse racing, some horses might seem to have confusing and sometimes unpronounceable names. The horse racing industry does tend to have a mischievous sense of humor, allowing expressions and thoughts to come to life in the name of a horse. Deweycheatumnhowe is pronounced as “Do we cheat um n how”, a slang version of “Do we cheat them and how”. But no matter what the underlining meaning and purpose of his name might be, there is no cheating when this wonderful horse sets out to win a race in his own spectacular style.

He started his racing career on 24 November 2007 and won all ten of his career starts. His carefully selected racing events included the 2007 New Jersey Sires Stakes, the 2007 Breeders Crown and the 2007 Valley Victory Final. He is viewed as being one of the top two year olds in the United States, in regard to his performance last year, and has already been named as a race favorite in the $1.5 million Hambletonian, which takes place at The Meadowlands on 2 August 2008. He has already raked in career earnings of over $900 000 for owners Deweycheatumnhowe Stables, Charles Iannazzo and Ted Gewertz, and has been an absolute joy for trainer and driver, Ray Schnittker.

The performance of Deweycheatumnhowe in his qualifying harness racing event is just a taste of what is to come. He is known as a horse that does not disappoint easily and by taking the qualifier seriously, it shows that he means business for the coming year. There are great expectations of Deweycheatumnhowe, and from his first start to the 2008 year it seems he might be able to fulfill every hope and dream that rests on him.
