Arlington Million Time

The Arlington Million horse racing event was introduced to the racing industry, not so long ago. It has however grown and developed into one of the most prestigious racing events in Illinois. This year, the event has drawn a wonderful list of top contenders, and celebrates its twenty seventh running on 8 August 2009. The Arlington Million will be hosted by the Arlington Park Racecourse in Chicago and horse racing enthusiasts are urged to make their way to this live horse racing event, as it is going to be spectacular.

This year, the purse for the Arlington Million is $750 000 and is a Grade 1 event that is supported by the Beverly D Stakes and the Secretariat Stakes on race day, offering spectators more high quality racing then they can handle. The Secretariat Stakes is also a Grade 1 event and carries a purse of $400 000 for three year old contenders and older. Racing secretary for Arlington Park Racecourse, Kevin Greenly commented on the competitors and racing action for the weekend, saying: “It’s the most competitive race and the highest quality of horses since I’ve been here.”

The line up for the weekends’ Arlington Million, in post position order, is Einstein (Leparoux) in first post position, followed by Presious Passion (Trujillo), Just As Well (Baird), Stotsfold (Kirby), Mr. Sidney (Desormeaux), Gio Ponti (Dominguez), Gloria de Campeao (Pereira), Cima de Triomphe (Lemaire) and Recapturetheglory (Gomez). It is a pretty interesting competitor field, as Gloria de Campeao, the Brazilian contender, is a very good foreign horse and having two of the best older horses, namely Einstein and Gio Ponti, also entering the starting gates, it is going to be a breathtaking showdown. Every horse entered into the Arlington Million 2009, has a stellar horse racing career behind them, making the competition very fierce and spectators scratching their heads, trying to choose a winner. Not only are they looking at the horses individually, but at the post positions, as posts one and two have produced four winners each in the past, but five winners have left from post seven. With so many magnificent horses being available on race day and quality racing taking place this weekend, Arlington Park Racecourse is most definitely the place to be.
