Established in 1959, the Sunland Park Racetrack has enjoyed a long and profitable history. In the 1960s and 1970s the track was one of the main gateways to the East and West when it came to top racing talent. Many a great thoroughbred has shaped its career on the Sunland Park Racetrack and hundreds of racehorses and jockeys continue to jumpstart their careers here today.

Sunland Park opened a new page in its track history in the early 1990s when a Casino was opened on the grounds. Right from the start, the casino proved to be very popular and initial profit figures cashed in around $35,000 on a daily basis. The Sunland Park Casino is every bit as popular today as it was back then and it features roughly 700 slot machines which offer a daily average purse distribution of $250,000. Of course, wagering is another popular activity at the track and Sunland Park racetrack has seen its fair share of record bets. Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino also offers simulcast racing and you can enjoy the thrill of all three gambling facilities right from the casino floor. The casino is open all year round while the racing season runs from mid-November to mid-April. Races take place every Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and a number of races are often run in December too.

Besides, simulcast wagering, casino slot machines and great thoroughbred and quarter horse racing, you can enjoy plenty of fine food at Sunland Park Racetrack. There are five dining options available – Riley’s, Ventanas, the Jackpot Grill, the Tecate Cantina and the Horseman’s Lounge. All five offer plenty of atmosphere, warm hospitality, and great food. Some of them also offer a view of the one mile, oval-shaped track as the horses head for the 990 foot homestretch. Dining at the racetrack is a great way to celebrate your victories!
