Kawartha Downs Horse Racing Track in Canada

Kawartha Downs race track was opened in July 1972 and has flourished since that time into a bustling venue of fun. Live harness racing is enjoyed every Thursday and Saturday with post times of 7:30 pm in season which runs from April to December. Patrons can view both 5/8 mile and 3/8 mile harness racing, placing bets on their favorite standardbred horse. Part of the Ontario Sires Stakes is hosted at Kawartha Downs raceway. The stakes are separated into 2 series, namely the Gold and Grassroots. An exciting race pitting 2 or 3 year old pacers and trotters against each other at tracks all over Ontario. Popular amongst racegoers, the events are nail-biting and the awards are magnificent. After placing your bet you can either sit on the grandstand (2,500 capacity) or make your way to the Finish Line Dining Room (180 capacity) with its fantastic view over the track. The horses will begin lining up behind the starting gate as the post time arrives. They’re off! Sitting on the edge of your seat you carefully watch the colors of your jockey and horse. Victory! Its time to go collect your reward.

As the harness racing season dies down at Kawartha Downs, its time for the race car drivers to hit the track. Kawartha Speedway is renowned for its top-standard 3/8 mile oval track and eventful stock car racing. Don’t miss out! Kawartha Down’s visitors can also try their hands at the slots. Kawartha Racetrack Slots boasts 375 slot machines and is open from 11:00 am to 3:00 am everyday. After a day of games, you are certain to feel hungry. Grab something to munch at Kawartha’s Finish Line, Player’s Lounge or Starting Gate Lounge. Simulcast horse racing is also available throughout the year, so in effect, the horse racing excitement doesn’t stop.
