Solano County Fair of Vallejo, California, forms a part of the states fair route. Hosting exciting thoroughbred, appaloosa and quarter horse racing as well as some mule racing, Solano County Fair offers an array of fun-filled family activities.
Horse Racing only began at Solano County Fair in 1951, several years after the fair was established. Solano County Fair’s main track is a dirt oval of 78 mile on a property of 147 acres. From the last turn to the finish line there is a distance of 1 085 feet. Fans of numerous horse breeds will find the horse racing events at Solano an absolute treat. Racing takes place in the month of July when the Fair is in full swing. Pari-mutuel wagering is possible on all horse races run including those broadcast from other major racing tracks throughout the United States. A well-known promotion is run each year. The Win/Place/Show promotion gives racegoers the opportunity to win $100/$75/$50 by having a lucky draw after a particular race. Visitors must be 18 years of age or older to enter. Solano County Fair has enough stabling for 864 race horses.
The Watch and Wager center at Solano Fairgrounds allows racing aficionados a chance to view live horse races in comfort along with fellow eager racegoers. Seating options range from group tables to carrels and private tables. A number of monitors and projection screens throughout the establishment get everyone involved in the racing action. Patrons can have a drink at the bar or enjoy a meal with the restaurant service. Solano County Fair has a great entertainment lineup for the entire family. Accompanying the thrilling horse races are fireworks, live performances, exhibits, golf contests and a demolition derby amongst others.
