Fresno Horse Racing Track in California

The Big Fresno Fair held in Fresno, California, offers one of the most fun-filled racing seasons in the state. Fresno Fair, opened in 1882, was established by members of the Farm Bureau and Chamber of Commerce. The group bought a 100 acre piece of land where they began the fair. Two years later, horse racing was included on the schedule,but it was only in 1941 that Fresno Fair introduced pari-mutuel horse racing. Horse racing ceased during World War Two, but began again in 1948.

Live horse racing is held at the Big Fresno Fair in the first two weeks of October every year. Conducted all through the week, races are run on the 1 mile oval dirt track. The distance run from the final turn to the finishing line is 979 feet. Fresno’s Bulldog Stakes is one of the most popular race days of the fair. Live horse racing takes place at the Fair’s Brian I. Tatarian Grandstand. Make your way there for excellent racing action. Post Times for Fresno’s horse racing events are as follows: Monday to Thursday – 1:15 pm; Friday – 1:30 pm and Saturday to Sunday – 12:37 pm. The grandstand provides sufficient seating for some 5,125 racegoers. Fresno Fair’s stables house 834 horses (634 permanent stables and 200 portable stables).

The Starting Gate at the live racing grandstand offers year-round satellite wagering from a number of top race tracks in the USA. Also situated there is the VIP Suite where patrons can view horse racing on television screens in ultimate luxury. Fresno Fair has a wonderful selection of entertainment including exhibitors such as artists, landscapers, photographers, craftsmen, chefs and others.
